The fate of Mr Godson (part 1)

Mrs Kate was having dinner with her daughter when the news headline popped up.
Nora shouted, 'mum look! It has happened.
Mrs Kate quickly wiped her eyes to be sure that the was not daydreaming and she ran very close to the screen shouting ' Ah! mogbe! This is really happening. Thank you Jesus. Our enemies have finally been put to shame'. Eh! Eh! (she sang, dancing continuously as she carried her plate into the kitchen.
It all begun on the 23rd Of December where Mr Godson drove to the mall to get some things for the Christmas celebration including the fireworks that they would use when they travel.
As soon as he reached the parking lot, three hefty  men approached him and asked him to enter the van that they came with.
Mr Godson, still confused about the whole matter asked " what for? And by the way who are you guys?
The 1st man: you're still here asking silly questions,  I see you don't like your life".
As soon as he finished saying these words he signaled the men and quickly entered the van. The two guys looked intently at Mr. Godson, tapped him and pushed him aside as they quickly veered off.
Mr. Godson remained at the spot for a while because he was still in shock of his encounter. As he entered the mall to proceed to do what he came for, the  police came up to him and asked to search him. (This was because the policeman was informed that Mr Godson was in possession of a stolen property.)
Police man: excuse me sir ,if you don't mind we would like to search you .
Mr. Godson: I don't understand why you would want to search me. Which type of problem is this one now. Okay, it's fine you can search me. It is just that I don't understand why you would want to search me as if I'm a criminal.
Police man:( police man searching Mr Godson suddenly discovers a flash drive in his pocket and brings it out). "How come you claim to be so innocent whereas you are the criminal That stole this flash drive. Do you know what this contains? It contains all the financial details of Chief Benjamin's company. You are under arrest! Now move it!"
Mr Godson: what! What is all this? I can swear to you now that I don't know how that got into my pocket. This is really a setup. Why would anyone want to do this to me?
As they moved to the station, the policeman told him that he would be tried for such an offence as stealing and that for the time being he was going to remain in their custody.
By the way, Mrs Kate and Nora waited patiently for Mr Godson to return. When they realise that it was getting late and he had not returned, Mrs Kate tried to call  her husband's phone but it wasn't going .  She also tried calling his friends  but they didn't know his where about. Three days had gone and Mrs Kate hadn't seen her husband, then she took her phone and called the police and reported the case that her husband went out for the past 3 days and has not come home.
It was as she reported the situation at hand that she realised that her husband was in the police custody. The policeman told her that's her husband was arrested for stealing.
Mrs Kate took this news in shock as she ended the call.
Mrs Kate: this cannot be happening. How will they arrest my husband and accuse him of stealing. I have to go to the police station right away. Nora I'll be back soon let me go to the police station and understand what the policeman is saying.
Nora : Mum what did they say happened to Dad?
Mrs Kate : can you imagine they said your dad stole and was arrested.
Nora: Ah! Unbelievable!
....Days turned into weeks and weeks into month and Mr Godson's case was still on.
The court scheduled for his appearance on the 15th March the following year which was to be held in a week's time.
Mrs Kate visited her husband and when they got talking, he told her his experience with some men earlier at the parking lot at the mall.
Mrs Kate being aware of this said to her husband " don't worry, we must see the end of this matter. How can you be set up and be punished for a crime you did not commit and the real criminals will go scot-free. It won't happen!"
