The cry for intimacy

There is a comfort that comes with intimacy. It comes with a tide that is exceptionally intense in that you don't need to be nervous about your next notch. Even in the midst of the storm, you are still able to sever yourself from the chaos around you and concentrate on God whose love for you is unquestionable. I must confess that it is not easy to be in the center of a turmoil and still show no worry.
But it is also good to know that Rome was not built in a day. Everything can be learned including shifting your attention from troubles to solutions. It just takes deliberate and consistent effort.
A dude who worked for a petroleum company was fired from his job just two weeks before their major business deal was concluded. The company declared to all the laid-off staff that their services were no longer needed. That really hurt them!
He left the office all sweaty, yelling in anguish that he was finished and did not know what else to do or where else to turn to since he had invested so much resources in the company. Meanwhile, amongst them was a very calm young man who was fired as well, but who just put on a grin as he gently stepped out of the office.
The dude, witnessing this attitude, stood  puzzled, knowing fully well that both of them had similar predicament and in fact he knew that he was financially better off than the young man.
As he wondered why a man that has been fired wouldn't show similar anguished expression  as he did, he hurriedly walked up to him and asked why. During their conversation, he discovered that the man  had learnt over the years to shift his attention from his unpleasant situations to concentrate on the positive side of his challenge because he knows that God is in charge of his life and can turn his situations around for good; for everything works for  the good of them that love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8.28). He was able to trust God that much even in unpleasant situations because of the intimate relationship he has cultivated over the years with Him.
Knowing that life is filled with uncertainties that could be devastating, it is foolhardy to run a race without anchoring intimately to God who is all knowing and all powerful and always there to see us through all situations.
So someone who does not have an intimate relationship with God is like a person given everything needed for life but cannot access them because he/she isn't aware of their existence due to lack of intimacy with God.
