The Procedural Curve of Knowledge

The weather was cool and calm after the refreshing rainfall on a Friday night   Bimbo was on a motorcycle on her way to Feta 1,Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria; to spend some time with her friend, kate. She noticed something that was written on the bill board," born for more". She kept on pondering on what she saw until she entered kate’s room.
"I must make an impact in this life" said Bimbo.
Kate wondering what is going on with her friend replied saying" impact? What came over you all of a sudden?"
I am serious o, why will i even be living a life without having to make a difference or even a little change in another person’s  life".
Well, now I see where you are going with this statement but first I must say that you must be willing to learn and be ready to take corrections as well" replied kate as she begins to take the conversation deeper. "The reason why I said this is that it is very crucial because how can you choose to make an impact in people when you do not have a heart to learn. Learning is a virtue. No one knows everything see, there will always be that one person who knows certainly more than you do in a particular area."
Bimbo interrupts kate, " are you saying that I hate learning?"
Kate shaking her head and giving a slight smile continued....
"See it this way, someone who loves cooking will go any mile just to keep learning new ideas, so as to add up to the ones he or she already knows. Now what I am saying is what do you know and what are you ready to learn? Because what you do not know can limit your level of impact in the lives of others. People see what they want in other people and go close to them so that they can learn one or two things that will help them. You do not venture into impacting in other people when you have not learnt anything from another. Take for instance Godwin says to his five year old daughter "baby whenever you see someone in need, do as much as possible to help", and the next day he goes on a walk with his daughter and they discover that there was a lady who had a flat tire just along their street and he just walked past her without rendering help, what do you think his daughter will do? She might not really be eager to share her snack with a kid who did not have just because her dad did not try  so hard to inculcate a habit of helping others into her life. He only told her about it but did not show it by his actions.
Bimbo cuts in again, "do not even say that because that child should know that she should give or even show kindness, the fact that she saw her dad walking past the lady that needed help but did not do anything did not mean that she would not have given that kid her snacks. Well i am not supporting the fact that she did not share rather the fact that her father was to blame".
Kate reacting to what Bimbo said explained further saying, " a child not only listens to what is being said, but pays more attention to what he or she sees. The truth is that many people will come in contact with you and discover a lot of things about you, but the issue is whether you are really what you portray yourself to be. Considering the fact that you said you want to make an impact in life is really a good one, but you must find someone who will help you become better, someone that you trust and can assist you in all areas so that you can fully attain that goal and at the same time reflect who you really are, on the outside so that others can learn from you. You see, one cannot learn from someone he knows nothing about. You must see something about that other person that  you want to learn how to do. That is to say that your attitude towards situations must be in tandem with what you say. This brings us to the fact that you cannot make impact just by your words but by your words plus your actions because there are people who are very good in telling others the dos and don’ts without showing it."
"Hmm! Now I feel like I am ready to make this change we are talking about. Thank God I came here tonight o"
Kate bursts out in laughter.."Abi oo"
“Oya I have learnt a lot today, kai! I am hungry o.” Bimbo exclaims.
After eating they went in for bed as the cool breeze blew them to sleep.

This is Beautiful, Sis. Keep it up. We can't impact knowledge to people who haven't seen such experiences in our lives. It is beyond the words we speak but also our action goes a long way.

  5. Sis this piece is very good. ''A child not only listens to what is being said, but pays attention to what he or she sees".
    That statement got me thinking
